The GMA  on behalf of the Government and the people of Ghana is schedulled to mark the 2017 International Day of the seafarer (Dots) on June 27, 2017 at the head office in Accra.

Day of the seafarer was officially established when member states that form the International Maritime Organization (of which Ghana is a member) met in Manila- Philipines and adopted the 2010 revised Convention on the Seafarer Training, Certification & Watchkeeping (STCW )

The purpose of this Convention seeks promote seafarer welfare and also to recognise the unique and immesurable contribution made by seafarers the world over in terms of Sea borne trade, development of nations economies, and civil society lifestyle.

"SEAFARERS MATTER", is appropriately chosen as the theme for 2017 to emphasize the important roles being played by the Gallant men and women that work on the world oceans, in areas such as trade, movement of heavy goods and machinery from one part of the world to the other, and drilling of oil in the deep seas to fuel activities on earth.

AllGhanaian and foreign seafarers in the country are warmly invited to attend the official recognition ceremony at the Ghana Maritime Authority's head office in Accra, on the Modibo Keita close- east ridge near the passport office.
